“The Next
American Revolution” Kicks Off Soccer Awareness Campaign
Organization plans to collect 20 million
signatures in support of soccer in the United States

Reading, PA - July 10, 2007
– American soccer enthusiasts now have a chance to voice
their support of America’s most popular youth sport. A
grass-roots movement called “The Next American Revolution”
has launched a campaign to raise awareness of soccer’s
monumental popularity in the U.S.
“Our
goal is to collect 20 million signatures to
unite the American soccer community,” said Burke Cherrie,
founding member of the next American Revolution, a
non-profit organization. “While soccer continues to grow in
popularity, it is not recognized in popular culture as a
positive force to be reckoned with. We want to force a
change in thinking of the way this sport is covered in the
U.S. We are giving a voice to the thousands of children,
soccer moms and dads, and fans of all ages that, up until
now, have been a silent majority of soccer supporters in
America.”
The
signature campaign has already launched online at
www.thenextamericanrevolution.org. A live signature
petition will also launch on July 28, 2007, in New York
City’s Times Square (Broadway between 36th and 52nd
streets).
In
conjunction with the awareness campaign, the Next American
Revolution is seeking donations to develop the next
generation of U.S. soccer players and programs. Proceeds
will be given to various soccer related charities and the
United States Soccer Foundation to provide administration
and financial support in starting and maintaining the next
generation of programs and events in urban, suburban and
rural communities.
About The Next American Revolution:
Incorporated as a non-profit organization, The Next American
Revolution was formed as an awareness campaign. By amassing
20 million people in support of soccer in the U.S. they will
present clear evidence to the media that soccer coverage in
the U.S. is needed. Using the support of the soccer
community, they will pursue sponsorship and donations from
companies across the United States to be used to enhance the
development of the next generation of soccer players and
programs.
